World Cup Is Here !!

June 9 2006 / 9.7.06 - The day the World Cup starts in Germany. The day has arrived where football fans are united fanatically for one reason - football. For some miserable ladies, it is the time where thier husbands in a way do not care about them and dominate the television sets traeting it as thier wives instead. Funny thing is, there is this one group of women in Germany or Holland I think who are petitioning for the World Cup to be abolished. Must be mad .. such an impossible task.

As I have stated the 'greatest event on Earth' officially starts today. The first match will be played at about 11.15 pm tonight (local time) on
Astro Channel 83 and NTV 7. Before that, the opening ceremony will start at 10.15 pm. The match will be between Germany and Costa Rica. I presume that Germany will win though. It will be played in one of the stadiums which I think is the most magnificent stadium among the others this World Cup which is the Allianz Arena. It has a unique design and flashy changeable colours on its outside at night. It is also one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in Germany with inflatable cushions as seats .. cute.

On which teams I'm supporting, I'll be supporting
Espana (Spain). I just love Spain. Their first match will be vs. Ukraine. If they don't do well however, I think England or Brazil will succeed. Brazil have Ronaldinho (Player of the Year 05), Ronaldo, Robinho, Kaka and many other talented players. England on the other hand are lucky that Wayne Rooney will finally be able to play from the start. Among others, they have David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and others on the squad. We'll just watch on and see .. just support your own favourite teams. So, go Spain !! Make Spain proud.

The Ecuadoreans have colds. The Angolans are shivering. Trinidad and Tobago players stuffed their hands deep in their pockets as they took the field for a friendly. These are how some of the teams are feeling now in Germany. Despite already entering summer, temperatures are still low and dropping in some parts of Germany especially in the northern parts. Teams from tropical countries which players not based in Europe are those mainly affected. In fact, a few days back light flakes of snow was actually dropping where children were actually able to construct mini-snowmans. Let's pray for the best weather.. Full article here.

If there are desperate enough fans in our school who would stay awake till 5 in the morning to watch, I salute you. Just as long as you don't fall asleep in school in front of any teacher .. lol. I would love to see that though. I think certain teachers in our school may excuse you once or twice. They may probably face the same problems. There are always repeats in the day rite ..
