Post American Idol Buzz
Katharine McPhee,my choice for being the 2006 American Idol has signed with Simon Fuller's 19 Recordings Limited and RCA, in conjunction with legendary music industry executive Clive Davis, chairman of BMG U.S. and RCA Records. She will have her first single released on June 27. The double-A sided "Over the Rainbow" / "My Destiny" / will be available in stores and as a digital download. She performed both songs on the finale of American Idol. "My Destiny" was written by Harry Sommerdahl, Hanne Sorvaag, Tim Baxter and "Over the Rainbow" is the classic song written by Harold Arlen and E.Y. "Yip" Harburg for the motion picture "The Wizard of Oz."
Being my most favourite Idol contestant so far, she is much better than my top choice of Carrie Underwood from last year's American Idol in terms of her voice and song genre. Carrie Underwood's country music doesn't really appeal with me anymore but its no doubt soothing at times like Some Hearts. Although i'm such a "great" fan, I'll probably download her songs illegally through the Net .. lol. Let's hope her real album will be out soon enough. The McPhever rox ..
The American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks whom I do not support at all will also be coming out with his singles album featuring two songs he sang in the American Idol finals. They are "Takin' It to the Streets" by the Doobie Brothers and "Do I Make You Proud" which are due to be out on June 13 according to his new labels, 19 R ecordings Limited and Arista Records. Well, Taylor Hicks fans aka the Soul Patrol will be happy to note so.Meanwhile, the American Idols Live Tour 2006 while be going on this summer of 06. This ongoing tradition will include the top 10 finalists of American Idol. They perform all around America in sold-out venues. Although they rarely perform overseas, they did do so last year in Singapore (arghh .. how bout m'sia !?).
Other that that, the American Idol Season 5 Encores album featuring the top 12 finalists singing their best performances from this season is already out in the US but i'm not sure whether its also out here. The tracks on the CD a re as follows :
- What About Love - Melissa McGhee
- Superstition - Bucky Covington
- I'm Every Woman - Mandisa
- Wanted Dead or Alive - Chris Daughtry
- Father Figure - Ace Young
- Takin' To The Street - Taylor Hicks
